PLANT
The peach tree (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) is a fruit tree of family Rosaceae which produces an edible fruit called fishing.
The peach tree is a tree that can reach a height of 4-8 metres, with slightly rough brown bark. The young shoots are green, often tinged with red. The leaves are lanceolate pointed, alternate, the hermaphrodite flowers are borne in the apical zone on young branches, but not on the developing suckers.
FRUIT
Peaches are drupes Fleshy, juicy and sugary, they have a reddish-yellow or even brown skin, which can be thin and velvety or smooth (nectarines). The flesh is very sweet and fragrant and, depending on the variety, can be yellow or white with red veins more evident near the stone. White-fleshed varieties have been selected with the red colour extending to all or almost all the flesh.
CULTIVATION
Grow in full sun, avoid water stagnation.
MATURATION
The peach variety PLATICARPA 'ALESSIA' with yellow flesh is early maturing, 19 June.
