PLANT

Begonia masoniana, also called 'Iron cross', is a species of plant in the Begoniaceae family, native to southern China and northern Vietnam. It is a rhizomatous perennial begonia that grows up to 40/50 cm, characterised by large, asymmetrical, textured green leaves covered in reddish hairs, with a prominent dark brown pattern in the centre of each leaf, resembling an Iron Cross. It produces small white flowers in erect panicles, but is mainly cultivated for its leaf effect.

CULTIVATION

The Begonia Masoniana must be grown in an environment completely protected from frost. During the summer period it can be grown outdoors out of the sun.
