PLANT

Platycodon Grandiflorum is a member of the large campanulaceae family and is native to Asian countries, particularly China and Japan. Platycodon is an herbaceous perennial plant with an erect, bushy habit that reaches a height of 30/50 cm. The leaves are lanceolate, glaucous in colour. The flowers are in the shape of a very enlarged bell about 3 cm in size. The traditional colour is normally light blue and they are grouped in terminal inflorescences (racemes), but pink and white can also be found.
Flowering takes place in June July, but often extends into early autumn. Characteristic is the presence of the balloon-shaped buds from which the flowers open. There are numerous varieties on the market, including: Album with white flowers, Mother of Pearl with light pink flowers, Plenum with light blue semi-double flowers.
