FEATURES
The Ruchè grape variety has very ancient origins, almost certainly indigenous to the Monferrato Astigiano. According to some it arrived from Spain, others believe its precursors came from France, brought to the area by monks who planted it around the monastery of San Rocco (no longer extant) in Portacomaro. This would seem to be the origin of the name, which according to others would instead lead back to 'Rocche', in the sense that the vine seems to prefer the steepest hilly areas.
