La Stiff verbena is a a perennial herb, native to Central and South America, which is very popular in low-maintenance gardens for its extraordinary continuous flowering. This species has an upright, compact habit, usually reaching a maximum height of 40–50 centimetres. It produces dense clusters of small flowers in a deep purple or blue-purple colour, which bloom continuously from late spring until well into autumn.
