PLANT

Zamioculcas zamiifolia is a succulent plant in the Araceae family, native to Tanzania. It is the only species of the genus Zamioculcas. It owes its name to its rather similar leaf appearance to plants of the genus Zamia. It is also known by the name 'Zanzibar bud'.

CULTIVATION

The Zamioculcas is a hardy plant, adaptable to any type of soil and also good as a houseplant. It can also be grown in soil for succulent plants and prefers good light, not directly in the sun; it also tolerates shade. Watering should be done approximately every 7 to 10 days and in moderation, allowing the soil to dry out between each watering. Be careful with watering: excess watering could cause the roots to rot and thus result in the plant's demise. With regard to fertiliser, it is preferable to use that for succulent plants, approximately every 3 weeks in the period from spring to autumn.
