FEATURES

In the past, the Corvinone grape variety was erroneously considered to be a biotype of the Corvina. Corvinone has only recently (1993) gained its own independence, making the generalistic term Corvine, which was used to refer to this 'family' of vines, obsolete. Its name may come from the almost black colour that recalls the plumage of the crow, or from 'corba', the basket in which the grapes were transported, an appellation that also returns in various local synonyms ('corbina').
